Oprah Winfrey's Leadership Tips

“I had no idea that being your authentic self could make me as rich as I’ve become. If I had, I’d have done it a lot earlier.”

“The big secret in life is that there is no big secret. Whatever your goal, you can get there if you’re willing to work.”

“You know you are on the road to success if you would do your job, and not be paid for it.”

“When you’re doing the work you’re meant to do, it feels right and every day is a bonus, regardless of what you’re getting paid.”

“Passion is energy. Feel the power that comes from focusing on what excites you.”

“Forget about the fast lane. If you really want to fly, harness your power to your passion. Honor your calling. Everybody has one. Trust your heart, and success will come to you.”

“You CAN have it all. You just can’t have it all at once.”

  1. Not so fast "Big O" ... you are a CELEB SUCCESS Story ... which isn't quite the same as SUCCESS. Maybe a better term is SUPER-ACHIEVEMENT ... Tiger Woods was/is a SuperAcheiver ... but apparently he has some deep seated emotional relational issues. Bill Clinton was/is a SuperAchiever ... but something tells me he has a few flaws. Tossing out glossy one liners like "Passion is Energy" or "if you do your job, and not be paid for it" is actually misleading. Mz O you have become the character you portray, the part you play, the role you rumble about in. And your performances in the ROLE of "Big O" is damn good but seriously, do you think your little aphorisms are valid ... or are they merely a glossy bit of glitter on spritzed on the image of "Big O"? Do you have a kids? I know some moms who discovered that there calling was simply being a mom. Do you have a vibrant relationship with your husband? The deepest joys in life usually don't happen on camera. Do the people around you love you warts and all or are they merely basking in the glow of your larger than life persona? The only thing you said that was valid for most folks was being your authentic self ... and if your authentic self is a person who craves the spotlight and has the talents and self absorption to live in the spotlight and is willing to sacrifice everything to get and stay in the spotlight ... coupled with a needy craving for adulation for self affirmation ... then yes, good advice. But for the folks that work for a living, want to have meaningful relationships with someone other than their cat and don't really feel the need to be featured on TMZ ... maybe it's not. Don't confuse SUPER ACHIEVEMENT aphorisms with SUCCESS.
