Branding System v1.0

When a brand becomes magnetic, it stands far above the competition. So the real question is: How do you create a magnetic brand?

Listen to the consumer, and then listen again more carefully:

  • Use the Brand Lover Model 2.0 to uncover your consumers’ associations to the brand.
  • Make a distinction between cognitive and emotional responses. Remember, it's not what consumers say or think, but how they feel.
  • Use this information to get to the deeper meaning behind consumers’ associations.

 Make the brand stand out:

  • Identify your brand’s point of differentiation. Will consumers buy this brand instead of another brand? Why? Does the brand tell a unique story? What is the brand’s X factor?
  • Produce creative advertising that strikes a chord with the consumer: Surprise them. Inform them. And give them something to talk about!

Obtain a dominant share of advertising:

  • Determine how you can become the big fish.
  • Purchase your media with the brand’s long-term plan in mind.
  • Use your money to place ads, not make ads.

Be frequent in your advertising:

  • Make sure the message about your product is repeated over and over to the public.
  • Reach the same audience.
  • Look for destination media.

Learn from your best competitors (they are smart too!):

  • Always ask yourself, how can my brand improve?
  • Embrace learning and be the perpetual student.
  • Stay relevant by educating yourself and keeping on top of the trends.
